Philippa Bevan is Mokoro's Professional Moderator and Company Secretary, and a member of the Council. She was employed as a university researcher and lecturer between 1993 and 2006 and now works as an independent development research sociologist with a particular interest in how politics and culture affect development policy, practice, processes and outcomes in particular contexts. She has undertaken empirical research in Ethiopia, Uganda and Pakistan and used secondary sources to write more broadly about 'social policy' in Africa. She has written various papers on power, poverty, inequality and migration in Ethiopia for the World Bank, Irish Aid and DFID.
