Stephen Turner has 25 years' experience of land policy issues, primarily in southern Africa – including support to land policy development in Lesotho, Botswana and Namibia and a series of reviews and policy studies relating to South Africa's land reform programme since 1994. He has also worked on the relationships between land tenure and food security, the links between environment and land reform and the influence of land tenure and land reform on the investment climate in Africa. His work on land tenure and land reform falls within the broader context of his research and consultancy assignments on rural livelihoods, natural resource management, food security and resettlement.
